Você precisa carregar o celular no aeroporto, ou avisar no trabalho que a reunião online caiu, ou pedir a senha do Wi-Fi do hotel. Tecnologia está em tudo, e a conversa sobre ela acontece em inglês o tempo todo, seja com um estrangeiro, seja com o próprio aparelho, que está cheio de palavras em inglês que você usa sem saber pronunciar.
Olha, esse é um dos vocabulários mais fáceis de aprender, porque boa parte já está no seu dia a dia: "download", "login", "delete", "link". O que falta é organizar, saber as pronúncias e aprender os verbos que o nativo usa com essas palavras. Celular e aparelhos

Repara: "notebook" em inglês é caderno. O computador portátil é "laptop". Essa é a pegadinha número um do brasileiro nesse tema.
"Could I charge my phone here?" Posso carregar meu celular aqui?
"My battery is at five percent." Minha bateria está em cinco por cento.
Dica: "outlet" é a tomada na parede; "plug" é o pino do carregador. "Is there an outlet?" é a pergunta que você faz no aeroporto, no café, no hotel.

"What's the Wi-Fi password, please?" Qual é a senha do Wi-Fi, por favor?
"The internet is down. Can you check the router?" A internet caiu. Você pode olhar o roteador?
Repara em "the internet is down": "down" é o jeito natural de dizer que algo caiu, parou de funcionar. Serve para site, sistema, internet, qualquer coisa.

"I'll text you when I get there." Te mando mensagem quando chegar.
"Can you send me a screenshot?" Você pode me mandar um print?
Repara que "text" é verbo: "I'll text you". E "print" em inglês é imprimir; captura de tela é "screenshot". Mais uma pegadinha.
Dica: "I'll text you" e "I'll call you" são as duas frases mais usadas para combinar contato. Aprende as duas e você nunca mais diz "I'll send a message" de forma travada.
Você já fala metade do inglês da tecnologia todo dia. Só falta perceber que já sabe, e organizar o resto.

Tenho alunas que trabalham em empresas internacionais e a primeira coisa que aprenderam foi "you're on mute". É a frase mais dita em reunião online no mundo inteiro.
Os verbos que fazem tudo funcionar
O vocabulário de tecnologia vive de verbos curtos e phrasal verbs. Estes são os que mais aparecem:

"Have you tried turning it off and on again?" Você já tentou desligar e ligar de novo?
"The app crashed and I lost everything." O aplicativo travou e eu perdi tudo.
Dica: "it's not working" resolve qualquer problema tecnológico quando você não sabe o nome da peça. "My phone is not working", "the Wi-Fi is not working". Estrutura coringa.
O padrão por trás de tudo
Repara que o vocabulário de tecnologia se divide em cinco áreas: aparelhos, internet, redes sociais, trabalho online e verbos. E que as pegadinhas são poucas e fixas: "notebook" é caderno, "print" é imprimir, "outlet" é tomada e "down" é "caiu".
Hoje, olha para o seu celular e nomeia em voz alta cinco coisas que você faz nele, em inglês, com o verbo certo. Amanhã, faz o mesmo no computador. A tecnologia já fala inglês com você; agora você responde.
