Você está escrevendo um e-mail em inglês, ou montando uma frase na cabeça antes de falar, e bate a dúvida: é "I have been" ou "I was"? É "will" ou "going to"?
Presente
| Tempo | Fórmula | Afirmativa | Negativa | Pergunta | Palavras-chave |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Present simple | verbo base (+s no he/she/it) | She works here. | She doesn't work here. | Does she work here? | always, usually, every day, never |
| Present continuous | am/is/are + -ing | She is working now. | She isn't working now. | Is she working now? | now, right now, at the moment, today |
| Present perfect | have/has + particípio | She has worked here since May. | She hasn't worked here since May. | Has she worked here since May? | since, for, already, yet, ever, never, just |
| Present perfect continuous | have/has been + -ing | She has been working all day. | She hasn't been working all day. | Has she been working all day? | for, since, all day, lately, how long |
"I usually work from home on Mondays." Eu geralmente trabalho de casa às segundas.
"I've already sent the report." Eu já mandei o relatório.
Passado
| Tempo | Fórmula | Afirmativa | Negativa | Pergunta | Palavras-chave |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Past simple | verbo no passado | She worked yesterday. | She didn't work yesterday. | Did she work yesterday? | yesterday, last week, ago, in 2020 |
| Past continuous | was/were + -ing | She was working at 9. | She wasn't working at 9. | Was she working at 9? | while, when, at that moment |
| Past perfect | had + particípio | She had worked there before. | She hadn't worked there before. | Had she worked there before? | before, after, already, by the time |
| Past perfect continuous | had been + -ing | She had been working for hours. | She hadn't been working for hours. | Had she been working for hours? | for, since, before, until |
"We didn't see the message until this morning."
"When I got home, my husband had already cooked dinner."
Futuro
| Tempo | Fórmula | Afirmativa | Negativa | Pergunta | Palavras-chave |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Future simple (will) | will + verbo base | She will work tomorrow. | She won't work tomorrow. | Will she work tomorrow? | tomorrow, next week, soon, I think |
| Going to | am/is/are going to + verbo base | She is going to work tomorrow. | She isn't going to work tomorrow. | Is she going to work tomorrow? | tomorrow, next month, plans |
| Future continuous | will be + -ing | She will be working at noon. | She won't be working at noon. | Will she be working at noon? | at this time tomorrow, at noon |
| Future perfect | will have + particípio | She will have worked ten years by June. | She won't have worked ten years by June. | Will she have worked ten years by June? | by, by the time, by then |
| Future perfect continuous | will have been + -ing | She will have been working for hours by then. | She won't have been working for hours by then. | Will she have been working for hours by then? | by then, for, by the time |
"I'll call you as soon as I land." Te ligo assim que eu pousar.
"We're going to visit my parents next weekend."
"Going to" é plano já decidido. "I'll get the door" (decidi agora) e "I'm going to travel in July" (já está planejado).
"I visited London in 2019." Eu visitei Londres em 2019.
"I have visited London twice." Eu já visitei Londres duas vezes.
Present continuous ou present simple? Continuous é agora, temporário. Simple é rotina, verdade geral.
"I'm studying English this month." Estou estudando inglês esse mês.
"I study English every day." Eu estudo inglês todo dia.
Past simple ou past continuous? Continuous é o cenário, o que estava acontecendo. Simple é o que interrompeu.
"I was cooking when the lights went out." Eu estava cozinhando quando a luz acabou.
Dica: numa história, o past continuous pinta o fundo e o past simple faz a ação acontecer. Se você conta "I was walking, I was thinking, I was listening", falta o "and then I saw him".
Os particípios que mais aparecem
Vários tempos da tabela usam o particípio. Pra verbos regulares é igual ao passado (worked, worked). Pra irregulares, muda. Os que você mais vai precisar:
| Verbo | Passado | Particípio |
|---|---|---|
| be | was / were | been |
| go | went | gone |
| do | did | done |
| see | saw | seen |
| have | had | had |
| take | took | taken |
| eat | ate | eaten |
| write | wrote | written |
| speak | spoke | spoken |
| know | knew | known |
"I've never eaten sushi." Nunca comi sushi.
"Have you ever spoken English on the phone?"
